Welcome to the Emissary community! Now that you’ve completed onboarding and have finalized your advisor profile, we can begin considering you as a potential executive advisor across all of our available consulting opportunities. So, what comes next?

Before taking part in an engagement with a client, we want to first ensure that both the client and the advisor are aligned and also make certain the advisor is equally interested in the potential opportunity. To do this, we ask the advisor to answer a set of questions from the client. The responses can be just a few sentences, if not a simple yes/no answer on the proposed engagement topics. We call these questions qualifications and you’ll be notified via email when qualification questions have been proposed to you.

It’s possible you might get asked the same or similar questions multiple times. This happens when there are multiple sellers from the same company interested in speaking with you as an executive advisor. Since all information provided is private, we ask that you respond to each request you receive, as your answers are not shared outside of the person asking.

For every consulting opportunity you would like to take part in, you will need to apply by submitting responses to a qualification proposal. Here’s how:

Answering a Qualification

1.) You’ll first be notified you have a qualification pending review via email. You can begin the process by either clicking the “Answer Questions” button directly within the message you received…

Or by logging in to Emissary Exchange and clicking the “See Proposal” button found on the qualification’s listing in the “Opportunities: To Review” section.

2.) Once redirected, you’ll find information regarding the client and their goals for the engagement, in addition to engagement expectations such as compensation and scope of work. If these details are agreeable with you, you can click “Get Started” to begin reviewing their qualification questions.

3.) On the next page, you’ll be asked to summarize your former position and verify the information we have on file is listed correctly. If there are any details you would like to change, click “Account” in the top-right corner of your browser followed by “Profile” to edit your experience listing. If all is in order, click “Next” to proceed.

4.) From here, each page you’re redirected to will focus on a single qualification question which aligns with the client’s engagement goals and areas of interest. Any answers populated will save if you find you’d like to navigate back to earlier questions using the “Previous” button. Otherwise, you can click “Next” to advance through each question posed.

NOTE: Emissary’s terms and conditions prohibit advisors and clients alike from discussing confidential or proprietary information. If ever you find a question posed in a qualification or during an engagement falls into a grey area or is one you otherwise feel uncomfortable answering, you always have the right to decline responding to that question.

Additionally, if you find you’re only able to answer a qualification in part due to factors like confidentiality or outdated knowledge concerns, we would still encourage you to respond to the best of your ability noting the areas you’re unsure you may be able to provide guidance. Having your feedback in mind can help us at Emissary better understand if there may be room to tailor an engagement accordingly to maximize conversation.

5.) Once you’ve answered all of the questions proposed, you’ll be directed to a review page. From here, you can edit all of the responses you’ve provided so far from this view. Once you are satisfied with your answers, click the check box to confirm the answers you’ve submitting are accurate to the best of your knowledge followed by “Submit Answers”.

6.) With that, you’ve now successfully responded to a qualification proposal. From here, Emissary will present an anonymized view of your advisor profile to the client along with your responses. This is so the client can confirm whether or not they’d like to move forward with an engagement. Regardless of what their decision may be, you’ll receive an email notification updating accordingly. In the meantime, you can keep track of what qualification proposals you’ve responded to by viewing the “Opportunities: Responded” section of your dashboard.
